Look Not Behind Thee (Genesis 19:17)

Yo. check this out. Right now. Or later. But you should probably check it out soon. :)

I havent ever been super familiar with many Bible stories. It AMAZES me how interesting they truly are! How in the world can I possibly skim over such mind blowing experiences, relationships, lessons? The story of Lot's wife is remarkable. I mean a pillar of salt?! That sure makes me want to never look back on anything. This has got me thinking. Like exactly the moment I typed that previous sentence about not looking back on anything. I thought of how I have been looking back for quite some time! We always wonder how our lives would be if we were to have chosen a different route. In high school I always to picture myself attending Timpanogos instead of Mt. View. MV is and always will be the best though ;). Anyways, I have been looking back here and there if I have made the right choice about where I attend school. Which is silly because I know Dixie State is THEE best place for me. Right now. But I wanted to go to Utah State so so so so so so Stinkin bad. Sometiems I just get thinking things like, "why? I could have been having so much fun, maybe I'd be dating more? Maybe, maybe, maybe. But truly I'm doing Perfectly fine. Truly! I'm here at Dixie State for reasons that are known, unknown and being revealed to me throughout my time there. The Lord truly knows what is up. Keep praying. If that doesnt help, then pray some more. Then top that off with one more prayer. He is there. He is real.

A quote by Robert L. Millet (P.s. he is in my aunty's ward!)
" God has made Himself available to ALL His Children... No scriptural invitation is given more frequently thatn the divine encouragement to ask, to seek, to knock."

I have been doing a lot of asking lately. I know I will continue to keep on asking. Its finally time I get my bottom in gear and seek, asking wont do everything. WE have to do something on our part.

The Church is True. :)

Where Do You Get Your "True" Meaning of Christmas?

CHRISTMAS IS IN 3 DAYS
What?

So, we often get caught up in the "Whoo-ville Sunk" during the Holidays. Or should I say "Stunk"? Actually I just made those two up. But don't worry they will turn very inspirational by the end of this. Keep reading-I know the suspense is killin you ;).

I'll start this off by sharing my Awkward moment of the weekend. (There were plenty, but here is a major one). I've been SO excited to make my mothers christmas present. I saw it on pinterest MONTHS ago. Ive been saving it for December 25th. :) Hello. Its coming. In like 3 days. Have I put it together yet? NOPE. Anyways. I was sneakily hiding it under my blankets inside the freezing, ceiling-less, storage room(It really isnt bad, just hilarious). I ran to the room I'm staying in for this lovely holiday season. And grabbed my phone charger. In my rush to save my dieing phone. (Because it was "so" important to save those few seconds it would take to have to restart my phone) I jumped on my bed.

*CRACK*

Sorry Mom. Looks Like I'll be taking another trip to the store tomorrow.... Good thing this was the least expensive part of my little project.

(HEY its 11:11! I'm makign a wish...........)

As I've been reflecting on my lack of attention it has brought wise words to my brain. Hopefully worth sharing. I Figure I ought to post atleast once each year. This makes TWO times in one year. (I think Im starting to get addicted to this whole blogging thing) Anyways... Back to my "Whoo-Ville Sunk". I was watching some of The Grinch today! I realized many things about the movie this time than ever before. Cindy is the most mature little girl. She is the one who takes all of Whoo-Ville out of their "Sunk". I dont even kow if thats the right word but it sounds cool. Just like how Dr. Suess would have liked it! But, we all know that each of us get caught up in Christmas Shopping, Santa Claus, all the excitement of gift "getting" and gift receiving. These are all great things. I have no shame in celebrating with all of these. I LOVE Christmas so stinkin' much. Everything that comes with it. Except...... the Contention. Christmas is supposed to be a "Merry" time. (And a "Married" Time-my roommate just got married yesterday!) Yet, like in The Grinch you see people running all over the place, flipping out in post offices, dropping gifts, fighting, competeting for the best lights, and materializing everything about Christmas.

I know this is a typical post about Trying to keep the Christmas Spirit alive. But we are constantly needing this reminder. Not just during the month of December. I was sitting in Church today and the gal saying the closing prayer mentioned, "May we try to keep the Christmas Spirit each day of the year". How significant! But, what exactly is the Christmas Spirit? Not all of us are of the same faith, nor are we all religious. I sure hope if you're not religious... come talk to me. I'll tell you about a wonderful man named Joseph Smith. ;) But really. Anyways No matter what you believe in, or what you don't, Christmas is a magical time! Even if you only celebrate with gifts. It is still so rewarding giving gifts. And recieving them. Especially those heart felt ones. Like the ones I'm making for my brothers (T-shirts with picture of me that says "My favorite sister") HAH. Dont worry, they'll probably never read this post. Think about it. Everyone LOVES Christmas. Atleast in some small way. Even Ebenezer Scrouge figured out why everyone else loved Christmas. If you have issues with Christmas, Come talk to me. I'll make you some peanut butter fudge and we can watch halmark videos all day. There are so many reason to be happy during this Christmas season. And ALL seasons. I was reading another blog post today from a Friend who I met breifly at a cross country camp a few years ago. She is PHENOMENAL. She was diagnosed with brain cancer some time ago and she just posted about how there are perks to having cancer. Perks. By golly. We can easily find perks in being sick. WHY IN THE WORLD CAN WE NOT FIND PERKS IN BEING HEALTHY?! Be happy ladies and gents. "Open your eyes" As this girl says. Check out her post www.prayersforrachel.com

So what is The Christmas Spirit to me? To me it is, Fun. It is loving, caring, warm, friendly, grateful, remembering, memorable, family, friends, CHRIST. "I am Mormon. I know it. I love it. I live it." http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/10/i-know-it-i-live-it-i-love-it?lang=eng I believe that Christ was born into this world to be the Savior. To do what only He could do. Die for all of our sins, our mistakes, our pains and sorrows. Though this does not mean we can freely jump about and do whatever the whoo-haw we want. But to know that when we, as humans mess up. That we can repent of it. During Christmas time we Celebrate and commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. I am forever grateful to Him. I know He lives. And I know that The Plan of Salvation is PERFECT. By golly does that sound grand. Even though we may be afraid of the future or what may come next. All we have to know is that it IS Perfect, The perfect plan and we will be satisfied, more than satisfied. Life is good now and if we continue to do what we should life will only continue to get better.

I remember watching a movie/documentary a few years ago in my sociology class titled, "God Grew Tired of Us" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32IxyvoSZKo (thats the trailer) When you see these boys celebrating and dancing, jumping up and down that scene is their  Christmas Celebration. How Fascinating! These people celebrate Christmas with Cheer, with singing with dancing. That is it. There is no Santa Claus, no materialization. They Celebrate their True meaning of Christmas. Whatever you believe grasp it and embrace it. Christmas is a cheerful time.  And remember to be cheerful all the time. It makes our lives and others so much better.

So please find out why YOU enjoy Christmas and make the most of it this week. And carry that joy through New Years, Valentines, St Pattys Day, Spring Break, End of semesters, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Activities, Workouts, dinners(free dinners especially), Having the self control not to pick at your nail polish for a whole day!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Sweet Potatoes Surely Are Sweet

Every had any plain sweet potatoes?
   *yes? Good. you'll understand
   *No? eat some. Now.

This^ is sweet potatoes and bacon. Never tried it... just wanted to add a picture :)

  Any who.

Id like to reciprocate(if that's the right word) some knowledge. Sweet potatoes are quite sweet--homemade. Not the "fry" lookin' things they serve at lunch. My suggestion: Cook up a good roast and throw in those sweet potato chunks. That's what my mother did tonight :)

Then I ate some oranges^^, and man do they make me happy! There is something about oranges that just make you smile. Definitely a great fruit.

Chocolate milk? yes. :) not just any kind of chocolate milk but.. BYU creamery chocolate milk. When I move out... im going to take with me gallons of that milk. It is oh, so beloved.

Sitting here thinking about how the potato was like the cotton candy of vegtables. IT just melted away and went right into one happy tummy. Then the oranges added a spazazzzz and got me all happy... THEN the milk? goodness gracious was that a lovely experience.

I am soooo very grateful for these little things today. All of this food is a blessing in our home and I am very lucky to have such a wide variety of foods to choose from each day. One day im going to make sweet potatoes and roast with oranges and chocolate milk for those who have never tasted it. My heart goes out to those in other countries. Food is a huge reason why I love America. We definitely could lighten up a little here..... ;)

BE grateful for the little things. Like a full tummy after a long day of school, rehearsals, softball, and your car battery dying. I sure am.:) Im also very glad jumper cables are available. and good friends.

Have a HAPPY week everyone :)

p.s. I just learned how to correctly spell "Definitely" I was spelling it "Definetly" for sooo many years and never could get it right.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to venture up to logan, UT to visit a CADAVER LAB! Legit. We walked in to the lab with body bags on 6 tables. nooooot very comforting :/   anywho long story short, it was defintly worth going! No, I did not pass out or anything (pro). Buuuttt I had quite the uncomfortable feeling while up at Utah state touring around... :(

I have had my eyes set on USU for the longest time just because I have heard so many wonderful things about it! But I realized when Im actually on campus its a WHOLE different feeling. Not a good one. My friend asked me "So what made you want to apply for USU?" and It took me a while to say why...

so... IM STRESSED. :) here is the main reason:

Who in their right mind  mixes up their name on the ACT?! oh wait, I do. ;) So... that is the whole reason why Its been 8 weeks and I havent heard back from USU and now theyre telling me its an unofficial copy. :/ the deadline is today. :(

Soo................. Nowww Im thinking Dixie.

shoot.

I told myself Id NEVER EVER go to dixie.

ever.

EVERR

and It keeps on coming back like a mosquito Im trying to swat away. SO luckily their deadline isnt unitl March.. and I have a better and bigger chance for Scholarships there.. PLUS id be down there with Mickey man!

And weber state? what the random?

oh well... like I posted on my Facebook Status.. I had a genius Idea:

Im going to build my own college. In alaska. Where we do nothing but build huge igloos. and eat snowcones and hot cocoa. and star gaze. and not have to apply. and there will be no admission fee. All you need to do is build a snowman to get in. Like frosty. and we will fish. alot. and ride polar bears. :D

Genius, I know.  anyhow. Bye bye for now :D

College?? oh wait.. Senior year JUST started.. :/

So.... heres the low down, I CAN NOT WAIT A SINGLE SECOND MORE FOR COLLEGE. word. Don't get me wrong I am Loving Senior year soooo very much!!

As I am looking into Scholarships, grants, MAJORS (still have SO many I want to do) it is getting me extremely excited to move out(I love my fam bam, I really do but its time to get on with my life). Right now I am applying for a Scholorship worth $1,000. and it is titled, "Awkward Back to school Photo Contest" Here are some of the pictures ive been posting:

I am going to win. No doubt. I need to get my Homecoming pictures Scanned... anyone have a photo scanner?!? cause those pictures are HILARIOUS. once I am hopefully chosen to be a finalist then People are free to vote for my photo! the person with the most likes/shares WINS.... so I need to put all my faith in my facebook friends to help me win 1,000 buck-a-roos.

Another Scholarship and I DIEING To be a part of is the Ambassador Program at Either Utah State University orrrr Dixie State. It sounds soooo fun! and I get to say involved with some form of student government!  plus...... ITS A FULL-RIDE scholarship... no  big deal..

I told my self I would NEVER go to Dixie state..... but when college day arrived.. and I had high hopes for BYU-I... and low hopes for Dixie.. those two SWITCHED completely... BYU-I isnt lookin so promising anymore.. but USU and Dixie are the main two..... Im freaking out just a little bit. okay ALOT. but I still have time. and I have the grades to qualify for both those schools as well as academic scholarships there... so hallelujah!

Ive been on the computer for 2 hours looking at Scholarhships.com.. and Zinch.com.. and Utahfutures.org... Im obsessed. :) then I found my blog.

Senior year is fantastic! I miss Cross country SO BAD. extremely. but I know it was the right decision to not  participate this year. Softball + Student council + HOSA + NHS + family + Laurel President + WORK are PLENTY enough. and it is all filling in quite nicely. Being a senior is so nice, my classes are panning out and its nice to be able to just be myself. It seems like being a Senior makes it easier to be yourself.. which is NOT how it should work out... everyone shoudl feel free to be that way.. but Being a senior, Let alone Senior Class President you know people look up to us (on student council) its really humbling. :)

well...... this is my post for now :)

Meet my good looking friends and I :) we love going to choir.

Summer :D

I feel like I should start this out as...
    Dear Diary,
Sorry I've been such a horrible friend in keep you updated! its been almost 5 months! but Time is the problem! I'm gonna sum up the end of the school year:
  •  Softball. Amazing! best decision ALL year :) besides cross country. haha I loved it! and am playing during this wonderful time called summer. Next year it is my goal to make Varsity. Funny Joke! but seriously, I really do want to! and if I bust my butt I know I can! OH! and I also decided to slide right into 3rd base and sprain my ankle. My brother and dad always told me our famliy had weak ankles and I just laughed! and said, "i've never broken or sprained a bone in my whole life!" yeah... it came right back to me. hahah and let me tell you , it hurt. the trainers and teh school say sometimes a sprain can hurt worse than a brake. and It hurt. haha I remember the first time I tried to shower.  funny joke. I cried. I could not figure out how to get into the shower with out killing myself! worst day ever! oh and to make it even better I didn't figure out how to "really and properly" use crutches until after I didnt need them. which caused me the embarrassment of almost tripping down the stairs.. but my friend caught me! haha so yeah! now I wear an aweosme ankle brace and I did not run for so long. so that is why   I was DIEING for summer cause that meant Cross Country :)
  • Student Council. I could not make up my mind whether or not I should run for student council again.. cause next year the Sophomore and juniors will not be in the class-- which means prom and everything else will be planned on our own time. I totally get why were not in the class, it takes up too many credits. so yeahh.. at literally LAST MINUTE I decided to run! I didn't even kow for what position! I did not even know who i'd be running against so I chose Jr. Class Vice President. Then after I had my sheet half filled out with signatures I realized I was running agasint 2 of my best friends! yeah talk about wanting to quit! but I kept going.. and made it! I was pretty excited So watch out, Prom is going to ROCK next year :D
  • Choir. our ladies symphonic voices went to festival, got straight 1's!! then... we went to State and... got even more straight 1's!! I was so proud of all our little voices!! Then.... the time came... for, Acappella tryouts! Nervous as heck!!! we tried out during class, and I had to leave for a softball game in like 15 minutes so of course I went very first. and holy cow. I thought I did Horrible! but I looked hte next weekend and the name , "Haley Lopp" was printed on the paper! let along a 2nd alto! so I can pretty much say I'm a man ;) hahah I was really excited plus choir tour next year will be amazing!
  • Boys. they've got a major case of Cooties! Every single one of them!
  • Cross country = AMAZING. I love it with all my big heart :D it feels so good to just go. Run. and Coach C pulled me over the very first day and told me she wants me to see how these first two base weeks go and then she wants to put me on a different, more intense workout system than everyone else. Which means I'd be running with the returning varsity. yeah. talk about pressure. I figure i'd still be on JV this year and just bust it senior year. but If coach wants me to and really believes I can, then I can. and I will! cause ahh!! I am just really excited and nervous as heck. But! i'll do it!
  • Me My life has been crazy! Set my alarm for 6:30 every morning. Trying to get out of  bed to read scriptures... but I cannot get myself to GET UP! so i roll outta bed at 7 :)  then grab something quick to eat, and cannot forget to say my morning prayers! then I hope on my bike and Haley and I ride to practice, On monday, I fell off my bike... and it hurt.. haha but! Its been so fun today we did a crazy work out , well we did a 45min run, then lifted weights and did an insane shoulder workout! loved it!  and so after cross i'll shower, and do some health assignments (i'm finishing online). then i'll sit. and sit. and sit. thinking of something to do. eat, sit, eat, sit. haha then! i'll hang out with candace ... and yeah. Girls camp is coming up so quick!! As well as................. MY BIRTHDAY!!!  Today, there are 16 Days until.. I am 16! oh what a wonderful feeling! I literally Can Not wait any longer! i'm going roading next week! so since my birthday is on a friday.. I have to get my license on Monday, the 11t to be exact and then We're off to girls camp that next week!! well... Thats all for today! Happy Wednesday!

Valentines :)

So, it seems like everyone and their dog HATES Valentines! Unless your married obviously. It is OKAY, actually its GREAT, to be single! Then you get just the more on valentines from friends! haha Like for me, My friend David, who I got married to in seminary, sent me a flower! Pretty much made my life! My beautiful mother gave me a bag of goodies. And my other friend gave me Waffles. And let me tell you, they are the BEST WAFFLES EVER! Because, they are completely healthy. every bit of it! He grinds up oats and puts protein in it and mmmm! Delicious! oh and did i mention they were Heart shaped! hahah loved it!

My Favorite part of Valentines was definetly in Elementary school  though! because you were guartenteed something! Those cute little valentine cards and the Awesome box's everyone made! I just wish in High school we still did that!

Basketball Season

What makes basketball games the best:
  • Referees
  • The fans
At our previous MV sophomore basketball game we played @ Timpview. Which was quite the day. Our team just kinda lost it. Played like children and could not, i mean COULD not make our shots and box out. So Monday's practice should be interesting... Anyways our Referees were... well quiet. (in nicest terms) Many of the fans were yelling at the refs for a wrong call. Which is kinda funny because honestly i think fans have a huge impact on ref's calls. I've been to games where a ref has changed his mind about a call. And it was ironic for the reason of the parents screaming their lungs out different calls. The two ref's at our game got lots of back talk from the crowd. Especially the younger one  who blew his whistle one time that i remember. A girl on the opposing team got hurt so her coach rushed over etc. Our fans were going a little overboard saying things like, "its not a foul!" "Look she's still moving! not hurt!"  So timpviews coach turned around and with a pretty big heart yell, "SHUT UP!! WE HAVE A GIRL WHO"S HURT" and honestly i was really scared. so was the rest of our team thinking she was gonna come up and deck him in the face or something. Luckily nothing happened the game continued and we lost.
JV's game started and us sophomores just kinda chilled. they lost also.. but fought hard!
Varsity game.... was just funny. it was like 12-0 1st quarter and we came back with a good hard win! During this game a woman next to my and Karli was filming the game and at one point her camera was turned on its side so our initial thought was to make funny faces. Which was absolutely HILARIOUS. no doubt. Just think about it. You sitting watching a basketball game and then two random girls making ridiculous faces at the camera. Pretty great huh? Just watch for it on Americas funniest home videos. Then we saw the shirt, Fartlek. No body on my team knew what it was!! which made it all the more funny to have them guess. But really its just an Indian Run. A line of people jogging around for a work out and the last person sprints to the front and it goes on and on. Thats all.

P.S. Since no one will probably read this except my mother, enjoy. and i need help i don't know how
to change the background and make this look acceptable. Its just kinda boring at the moment.

Start to 2011 :)

So, its been more than two years since I've been on this... It is just kinda hard when you don't remember your password.. but hey! I figured it all out now!

My Inspiration to starting this blog thing back up was my good friend Haley and Ali. They're blogs are very well thought out. Unlike mine in the past, I mean come on, I wrote about a mouse!
Uhm..... I'm not quite sure what to put on here but I'll just go with the flow :)

Today! My mom and I drove to the Post Office, yes I was driving. :) We checked the mail box and it was like seeing magic! My brother Mic, or I guess its Elder Lopp now is over in Sweden and sent us a package!! It's Chocolate! He spelled it "choklate" though. We were able to talk to him on Christmas! Sounds like he's doing great! I can not wait to eat the choklate!!! I heard it is way better than the chocolate in America, much less wax over in Russia.

The break off of school is coming to a close. Okay, its over. And it makes me really upset! I haven't even finished all my homework. I've got T minus 4 hours... we'll see if that gets done or not! ;) This break has been super fun! spending time with the fam and some good friends. We went to a Multi stake New years eve dance over at the UVU institute building on Friday even though there weren't a lot of people i still knew like all of them! My friend Ally and i dueted to Grease on kareoke and rocked it. There was a count down and we all made lots a noise with some great toys! (that was a rhyme) Then Bre, ally and I went to WinCo and bought apple juice then ate chips and bean dip at bre's house with kline crrrazzy night!

Basektball was a big part of the break! every morning at 8am minus mortorium when we couldnt practice so that meant i had to get myself outta bed to go run each morning and shoot around. Quite the pain.

Softball is coming up!!! and I really relaly really really REALLY hope i make the team! last year i made JV but they got the list mixed up or something so i didnt think i did until they called me when i was at track practice and had soccer that same day! so i just decided i'd do it next year... which is now and im nervous! the other girls already have experiince! i've only played one year of city league! but I LOVED IT! Honestly probably the my most favorite sport to play, I hope. If i dont make it then hello track! My goal for this year is the Run some Varsity races in Cross country or possibly make Varsity.. it's gonna be reallly hard cause our girls are fast! We took state last year what do you expect? But I know i can push myself and work hard enough. I sometimes feel i  need to prove my self of being a "Lopp" as what my other brother jokes around about. My oldest bro AMAZING at music, and im okay. Parker is AMAZING at soccer, and i was just okay at it. And me, i wanna be AMAZING at something... So i'm tryin!!

Well.... i better finish my homework i'll learn some cool tricks to spice this page up a bit soon!
